Just a question, when you are using the NextPVR and timer recording, do you have to leave the Apple TV on when the recording has not started as yet?
Does it wake up when in sleep mode?

I am not familiar with NextPVR, on other PVR clients backend takes care of the recording and you dont need to leave MrMC running.

When I record stuff on tvheadend I use atv4 to queue things in, YMMV

steps to record on tvheadend? I just find the show in EPG and queue it up.
for automatic recording tvheadend has a nice UI and it can be setup there
