Select audio track

Post by jsmiddleton4 »

I have mkv's with more than one audio track. Is there a way to select which is played? It looks like MrMC is defaulting to what it "sees" as Track 1. Some of my files the HD Audio is Track 2. For mkv's that have just a DTS MA codec it passes through. If Track 1 is DD and Track 2 is DTS MA HD, only DD gets played back.

I'd like to be able to select an audio track but can't seem to figure out how.

if using the siri remote click the touchpad during playback to bring up a menu. scroll over and click the touchpad on the icon that looks like a speaker. it'll bring up a window where you can change the audio track and subtitle track and more. click the menu button to back out of the audio menu. click the menu button again to back out of the main menu.

you also might find it handy to get a kodi app on your phone. There are several including an official kodi remote app.

all it takes is to turn on remote control via web server (system>services>web server) for the apps to find MrMC on your network.

Thanks. I don't have a smart phone.

I'll try with the AppleTV remote. I don't know if I tried to select an audio track after the movie starting playing though. I'll make sure later today.

Works. On my Harmony its the OK button, then the up arrow, then the menu.

I get DTS/Dolby mutli channel with pass through playing back mkv's. Denon X4200 lights up properly. I do not seem to be getting DTS:X nor Dolby Atmos. I say "seem" because when I check the audio information on the Denon, all the speakers that should be involved with DTS:X and Dolby Atmos ARE being fed and playing audio. Audio information indicates height, top middles, etc., all firing. Sounds good too.

When same video files are fed through my Mede8er and pass through the Denon the Denon does show DTS:X and Dolby Atmos. So the information or tags to trigger both are in the audio codec in the mkv. Denon shows Atmos or DTS:X and the speakers that should be playing back audio are. The speaker graphic is the same actually.

Is it possible the audio information is passing through but the Apple TV is stripping whatever information required to trigger the DTS:X or Atmos indicator?

Sure wish AppleTV would just get their act together and allow full pass through.

yeah, no passthrough for HD audio codecs even they are years old. Now we are in a new generation of HD audio and the previous generation isn't supported yet. but, it's not just apple - fire tv, roku don't "allow" it either.

MrMC is decoding the audio and passing PCM to your receiver.
