Plex client not loading/displaying library on firetv.

I have my library successfully loaded and scraped on my server, can load it from both web and my iOS devices.
However, on my first gen fire tv, when I start MrMC, the home screen doesn't load the movies and tv menus. I have to go services, and toggle the GDM discovery. When I return the home screen, both movies and tv are present, however when I go into them, they are empty.
I have restarted the fire tv and plex server a few times, doesn't make a difference.
I'm signed in to my plex account (non premium).
The fire tv plex app loads the library fine (but I don't like it)

since you have a plex account, I would use pin req to login.

It found your plex server, but did not find any connections. Odd. What version Plex Server are you running ?

1.0.3.2 on a synology NAS. It's odd because my iOS devices have no issue seeing and streaming from the library - same as my Mac with the home theatre app.

Looks like 1.0.3.2 popped out in July 27, 2016

EDIT: Works fine under plexmediaserver_1.0.3.2461 (Ubuntu Linux version)

I have the exact same problem on firetv stick, running latest plex server on synology nas.
native plex player on the stick works fine.
when I first installed mrmc alongside spmc it worked, after uninstalling both and installing only mrmc I login, but no data is pulled...
the log shows the same:

NOTICE: CPlexServices: Server found via plex.tv Plex

and nothing after.

how is your media organized in Plex ? Using Plex Folders perhaps ?

If you see something like 'NOTICE: CPlexServices: Server found via plex.tv Plex', then MrMC found the server, made a connection and parsed the published shares without error. Any error would not have gotten that message.

Given that I'm new to plex, I'm not sure what plex folders are.
When I set the server up, it asked me what kind of library I was setting up, then the directory those files were in. I pointed it to the designated folders for movies and tv, then it scraped them. Is there another method that would allow better integration with the built in plex client?

That is correct way of adding media, make sure that user you loved in with in plex has all that media allowed for viewing.
