How to populate the library?

Post by eazytv »

I would have never imagined to ask such a stupid question - but how do I populate the library?

I just switched from side loaded Kodi to MrMC. My video files are on some USB discs connected to a ReadyNAS Router (Netgear Nighthawk). Added a source with all the files and folders which can be browsed. But the library with all the pics, fan art, movie information etc won't show up. Went into the scraper settings, set it to my favorite settings - but when I manually initiate a database actualization the progress bar lits and directly turns off.

It looks like MrMC cannot connect to my USB HDD. The HDDs should at least be accessible via HTTP and FTP.

Anyone an idea with a similar set-up?

you need to set the content for each source

see kodi wiki, since ours is still WIP -> http://kodi.wiki/view/Set_content_and_scan

Y, I know. Unfortunately I am not able to manage MrMC to connect to my source Netgear Nighthawk with the 2 connect USB HDD. I have Kodi installed as well - no issue here. Even my Macbook finds the attached HDD within the Finder view and connect to them.

No matter what kind of source I chose in MrMC, it does not find my HDD.

UPnP connects to the HDD and I can play the movies, but the library does not populate. I do not even come to the point where I can set the contents... file syntax is "28.Days.Later.(2002).mkv"

Or is it due to the fact that Kodi is installed at the same time?

Is there any way to find out within Kodi what protocol the current connection is based on?

Last try for me. Must request a refund if I cannot get it to work. Mastered the challenge within Kodi, tho...

if you bring up movie info in kodi it would tell you the URL for it, starts with the protocol.

I am not understanding what the issue is...

in movies, add source ... browse for it(most probably SMB) , once you find the folder with the movies select "OK" and next screen will have "Set Content", choose one of the movie scrapers or use universal... save and it will populate database

same applies for TV shows...

only thing I can think of being different than kodi is SMB protocol, we have a different lib for it... try enabling libdsm in system-> services >smb client and enable lindsm, I am not familiar with ReadyNAS and what kind of SMB implementation it uses, if its anything like OSX and win10 then the libdsm might help

explain to me what you have done, maybe stick some photos of what you see and I am sure we can walk you through it

As you may have noticed the issue was not about the scraper settings or similar but about adding the source. With default MrMC settings enabled I was not able to have the source added. Enabling libdsm did the job. Got it up and running.

Thanks for your help, guys!
