Lost all indexed Movies and Series

Post by Roxpace »

Hi,

This week I lost all indexed movies and TV-series, but all shares was still there but they had no category.

I could easy reindex, but still this is a major problem for me since all TV-series takes so long to time index, does anyone have any clue what happend and how to avoid this in the future?

Sorry to hear that.

Need a bit more information to see if I can help, how are your movie and TV shares hosted (PC, Mac, NAS etc.), are your movies in one share with each movie in a separate folder with the movie name, date etc., how about TV, in one share with a folder for each series etc... Also, could the shares have been unavailable during a database cleanup? MySQL DB or not? Lastly, which platform (AppleTV, FireTV etc.)?

Also, I do not use MySQL so one thing that I do is dump the metadata (export library) from time to time back to my NAS so if I have to scan again it has local data and does not have to go out to the internet for data. I have all my movies and series in separate shares, movies in individual folders, TV in series with suborders for seasons.

Put a bit more, and we'll see what we can do to help.

Unfortunately, the AppleTV4 has very little persistent storage space. Only about 1/2 MB in size. So we vector all prefs there and even compress the xml's to maximize the amount of free. This means that the internal database and thumbnails goes to the 2nd level, what is called cache. According to Apple docs, cache will never get touched while the app is running but 'can' be purged if not.

Now, we have several 10's of thousands of users and very little reports of a nuke of cache. This could be triggered a few ways, some other app sucked up space and tvOS dropped the nuke. I've heard of tvOS updates doing it but only if the developer versions were installed.

Sorry to hear this, there's not much we can do. tvOS does support iCloud Kit but this works way different than normal iOS iCloud and is generally a real pain in the rear to deal with. It's something we look out for as Apple improves tvOS.

Same issue here. This happend now multiple times (like 4-5 times now) and I have not installed the developer version. Starting MrMc and see an empty library, everything is gone.

My shares run on SMB from a Synology. I have two folders: Movies and Series. Movies contains folders of movies and Series contains folders of series.

I do not know if Im using MySQL to store meta data, but could this be a solution ? I can run a share where MrMc can store all data or even an Mysql server.

you can setup MySQL using -> http://kodi.wiki/view/MySQL/Setting_up_MySQL

then in MrMC go to Settings -> Services -> MySQL Client and add ip address, port, username and password and you will be storing all metadata on MySQL server

is this still required? i know infuse supports icloud so obvi tvOS now supports it. this thread is long dead but as it came up in search result it would be great if someone can comment is icloud an option for MrMC or still do you need to spin up MySQL.

I only just installed MrMC for the first time today, apparently it's version 3.9-6. I don't see any icloud settings in the app, but neither are there for infuse. On an iOS device, settings>icloud>manage storage doesn't show any MrMC storage, but again neither is there any storage there for infuse. So it's not at all obvious to me if MrMC is capable of using icloud storage or not.
