Video Preview Thumbnails while scrubbing

Hi,
currently I'm still on an AppleTV 4k.
But as I want TrueHD Atmos and DTS:X, I'm going to get a Nvidia Shield TV 2019 - as this has Passthrough and Dolby Vision support.
And of course I'm going to buy MrMC for AndroidTV.

But after some research and asking a friend who already owns an older shield tv I found out that Kodi doesn't have Video Preview Thumbnails.
In this topic https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=320883 you talk about it's quite easy to do.

But my friend said that he tested the current MrMC lite on his shield and hasn't found an option for these thumbnails and said he only seen this on native Plex Player Beta (which has other unwanted issues).

Is my friend just too blind to find the option to enable this essential feature or does MrMC on AndroidTV really not have this feature.
And if it's not available is it planned to be added?

I would like to bump this old topic as I got the same question and I'm wondering how to get it to work since in the play store you can see in a screenshot that MrMc has this feature
