I am considering getting an Apple TV4 but I have a large number of files on my Synology NAS in MKV format.
If I install MrMC would I then be able to play them and should the HD sounds pass through to my Marantz receiver.
Any advice will be gratefully received.
1. No user installed addons are supported, python or otherwise.
2. No, they really are not supported.
3. They are not coming back
4. Read from 1. again

Re: Considering using MRMC with MKV files
apple tv handles h264 nicely, even better now that we have HW acceleration tuned in.
DTS and DD passthrough also works well, DTS-HD and DD+ are not supported by apple at this stage

Re: Considering using MRMC with MKV files
MrMC can decode audio to PCM, up to 7.1 depending on the source. So, you can get HD audio but not from bitstream/passthrough.JohnWB wrote:I am considering getting an Apple TV4 but I have a large number of files on my Synology NAS in MKV format.
