I've noticed that a recent version (2.7.0, I believe) has added support for the seek/skip buttons on an IR remote on the AppleTV. However there seems to be a bug with these commands that causes MrMC to hang.
To duplicate this, on an IR remote:
- Start playing some media
- Pause playback with the remote's Pause button
- Skip forward or backwards using either the Skip Forward/Backward buttons
The skip succeeds once and now everything is hung from the IR remote (and also possibly the Siri remote). The only way I've found to get control again is to force quite and restart MrMC.
Also, I've noticed (both while using it and in looking at code) that the skip interval as set in Settings->MrMC->Playback are not honored. It always skips backwards about 20-30 seconds. I'm not sure about others, but I'd prefer 10 seconds back, 30 seconds forward.

I've seen this on two different remotes, both learned using Apple's Learn Remote menu.amet wrote:Which IR remote?

Perfect! Thanks!amet wrote:please see -> http://wiki.mrmc.tv/index.php/Learn_remote on how learned buttons should behave
There's one other function that would be very useful. There doesn't seem to be a way to easily see the current progress or time left while watching a program. With many Apple TV apps, if you press Play while watching something, it brings up the timeline. Could this be added to MrMC - hitting the Play button while already playing would display the timeline, and perhaps other information such as the title, etc, for a few seconds.

Right, but then you have to hit Menu to exit out of that, which always brings up the risk of hitting it twice and exiting the player (and having my wife growl at me). It would be great to just see the info at the top of the screen (timeline, real time, title) and have it automatically go away after a few seconds.
