Seperate GUI from player for tvOS

Post by vlaves »

Hi to the Devs,

first I want to thank you again for MrMC and to thank you for the best media player ever :)
My request here is towards the Apple TV. I use MrMC on my Fire Tv very happily, but on the ATV I must say it is sad that the GUI nowhere matches to the rest of the Apps.
Would it be possible to seperate the player and the GUI part of MrMC, so in future versions the GUI can be replaced with a nativ tvOS one? I know this is a very hard task and longterm task.
And when I look into Kodi forum just for example in the Kodi headless post, its clear that GUI and the core are really hard to seperate.

Or maybe you can comment on plans how you want to improve the GUI look and feel on the ATV :)

Still wanted to know if this would be considered for future releases or at least that you are thinking about it.
Would be interested in your comments on that :)

regards
Vlaves

We don't have to separate the gui from the player, it's already separated and the skin determines the look and feel. Just needs a tvOS skin.

Okay, but thought it is difficult to react on the Apple remote, like native Apps do, thats also why I asked.

perhaps you have the setting turned on in MrMC that tries to emulate remote behavior like scrolling? I turned that off as it does make things difficult.
