do you have a username/password set for your PC smb share ? Or are you treating it as guest with no user/pass ?

I don't know of any user name or password on that PC server. Last week MRMC was accessing the directory just fine with an SMB share. the Infuse app indicates it's using SMB protocol, as is another app called Video Player. None ever prompted for a un/pw and those apps connect to my directory of videos.

To update, I managed to get a movies and tvshows share up and running after I revisited this issue again today. With a clearer head I started comparing SMB:// paths that were working in other apps. For reasons that only confuse me, I'm thinking if I used the MrMC Windows Network (SMB) option in the past I would enter the Workgroup path. Workgroup still times out on me. BUT if I use the Add Network Location, and I leave out Workgroup, but manually add the rest of the path, I got there!

All is up and running with SMB, and I changed the tv directory to tvshows, and I hope to get back to testing the wierd wrong tv shows issue again later. So far all tvshows have been properly identified. I look forward to adding a new one soon.

Thanks again to Amet and Davilla for putting up with my user errors.
