TV: playback of current recording | how to series record

Post by robvnet »

I've been using MrMC for a week now and I'm loving it. Well done for bringing it to the ATV 4! :D

Anyway, two questions related to TV functionality:

1. Is it possible to watch a show which is currently being recorded, from the beginning of the recording? My work-around for this was to add my recordings folder under my Video locations, but is there another way via the TV / Guide menu?

2. Is it possible to series record a TV show from the guide? Options under Add Custom Timer > Type > Repeating include one time and repeating manual options, a one time guide-based option but no repeating guide based option.

FYI, I'm using DVBlink on a Synology 211J with a HDHomeRun tuner.

Thanks
Rob

Ok, no responses so I'll post an update for the benefit of others, who maybe interested.

I can now watch shows which are currently recording and I can schedule series recordings.

This was resolved by changing the PVR backend from DVBLink to TVHeadend (TVH). TVH is a lot trickier to setup than DVBL, but it also seems to have more features and a better price tag - free vs $78AUD for DVBL!

I think time-shifting a recording is dependent on the backend. I know I had to enable it in NextPVRs backend settings. I'm not familiar enough with DVBLink to know if it is an option but glad to hear you got it working with TvHeadEnd
