Not really weird, it's just that as we have evolved, we find the need for certain resources that are not available under c/c++ without a great deal of effort. So that's driving the return of python. Plus, as a bonus, with the return of python, we gain access to existing python based addons and more complex skins that require python script helpers. We picked Plex for Kodi as a proof of concept. It's a complex addon, with a skin and python scripts, dependent on other python script helpers. And there seemed to be a demand for it.jabohn wrote: 24 Mar 2018, 05:37I'm aware of python returning. Just seems weird that for years it's been repeated that there are no add-ons ever and now it's back. I think it could be a problem because you're using the same wording as in Kodi but it's not just like Kodi. "Add-ons" implies that the user can add something. Maybe a different word should be used for MrMC.davilla wrote: 24 Mar 2018, 03:14 Where have you been ?Python has returned, and to show case it we brought in Plex for Kodi. Over time, we will be adding some popular addons.
Our user policy has not changed, user installed addons are still not permitted. "get more" is a hold over, this is TestFlight after all.
Was there a reason why the default selection was changed to Media Sources? Every time the app starts up, it's now the selected section. This only started in the last week or so.
Memory usage reduction, default CALayers (UIViews) seems to say they are RGBA8 but are really RGBA16. OpenGLES does not need to be 16 bit colors as it used 8 bit color shaders.jrcorwin wrote: 24 Mar 2018, 03:37No clue what any of that means, but I’ve updated and will test it outdavilla wrote: 24 Mar 2018, 03:23 (180323.2157 @20180323-8528a21)

Yes, I have made those settings now and it all works as expected.cosmoxl wrote: 24 Mar 2018, 04:07Sounds like you don't have match content on. So you're playing SDR content on an HDR output. Using AVF is probably converting gamuts to suit your HDMI output. That's why it looks OK either way.brians wrote: 24 Mar 2018, 04:01Ok thanks, that explains why I could not see because I had VTB disabled.cosmoxl wrote: 24 Mar 2018, 02:23
When playing a video swipe down for settings, go to video settings, then (if videotoolbox or ffmpeg is decoder) you'll have a brightness and contrast adjustment. If AVFoundation is decoder then you have no adjustment possible. That's OK because it's right on anyway.
Turns out it is HDR being enabled on AppleTV 4K is what seems to cause this washed-out dithered look. Disabling HDR makes playback using VTB looks better. However, AVF plays back fine and looks the same whether the AppleTV is set to HDR or SDR. I do notice that the MrMC menu looks a bit more dithered when I have HDR enabled on my AppleTV though.
Wouldn't it be best to default tvOS to SDR but have match content on for dynamic range and frame rate? When HDR plays in MrMC, tvOS will switch output to HDR. Right?
Tested this new build. The clip in question does play in SDR mode now, but it looks like BT.2020 color space is tied to HDR mode on tvOS.davilla wrote: 24 Mar 2018, 03:23 (180323.2157 @20180323-8528a21)

Maybe fixed in 11.3 betas, they have been fitzing about with SDR/HDR quite a bit. I would not install 11.3 beta yet, too many things are still broke and once installed on AppleTV 4K, there is no way but forward (can't go back to 11.2.6 release)wesk05 wrote: 24 Mar 2018, 19:06Tested this new build. Sure is frustrating to not be able to revert. I guess you can with a mac and xcode? Apple seem completely lost with this beta series.davilla wrote: 24 Mar 2018, 19:11Maybe fixed in 11.3 betas, they have been fitzing about with SDR/HDR quite a bit.
