Respectfully, I hear you but this seems contrary to user logic and tvOS logic. I’m trying to think of other apps that consistently work one way in its initial state and other ways in its resume state, in this MrMc/plex logic.
Regardless thanks for your work with me on this.
1. No user installed addons are supported, python or otherwise.
2. No, they really are not supported.
3. They are not coming back
4. Read from 1. again

Re: Testing MrMC 3.5.1
I think that is the same point, I highlighted in my previous post. Currently, it is possible to avoid to close plex addon, returning to Apple TV home using the TV button.davilla wrote:It's not a hangItzme1234 wrote: 21 Mar 2018, 18:32 So this 'hang' on startup is the expected behavior after the user checks, Start MrMc Plex Addon on Startup? There's nothing wrong with my setup?
"there are many paths as to what a user might want to happen."
Agree, but we get to choose that path when we EXIT the Plex Add-on. Why then? Because we checked Start MrMC Addon on Startup. When we ENTER we don't want to stop and figure out what all we should click on (We could land on Plex or we could land on Add-Ons) or whatever... we could be one screen away or three. We should get to land INSIDE the Add-on (from both sates) if that's what we checked. No? Both states should bring me into the Add-On.You enter MrMC exactly the same place you back out of MrMC. That is by design.
"Start Plex on MrMC Startup" means exactly that and no more. Backing out and re-entering is not "Startup" it is a "Resume". It might look the same but what goes on is very different.
I know what you want (stay in plex all the time, even when backing out via menu to tvOS home) but that leaves the problem of then there is no way to get to back into MrMC to say change some settings.
And this is what I mean by many paths, your needs might be one path, another person might have other needs. Two choices on resume of MrMC, two choices on exit of plex. Plus certain combination of those choices result in potential for problems.
I think that for sure it is not a consistent behavior but I understand that the plex addon has not been developed to replace a kodi skin and to allow to access all kodi/MrMC configuration.
So even if an option to put in background MrMC with plex running will be introduced (using the menu button) we will need to close plex addon to change MrMC settings (so we will need to have another way to close the addon).
It is an hard choice.

Yes, we’ll said. I expected the Plex Add-on to to act like a skin. I understand I was wrong now. But I think others will have the same expectation. True XBMC and Kodi folks will probably be fine, but I wonder if others will be confused like I was.

I agree with you. Probably, “common” user will be a little bit confused by “start with plex” addon option.Itzme1234 wrote:Yes, we’ll said. I expected the Plex Add-on to to act like a skin. It's both skin and addon
It's still early days and we are concentrating on python and plex for kodi. Plenty of time to get fancy.
As can be seen by the below.

Testing MrMC 3.5.1
You said that display frame rate switching is screwed up by 11.3 Beta 6 ...davilla wrote: Nothing changed in MrMC regarding display switching from 3.5.0 to the current 3.5.1 in TestFlight. I did read that beta 6 did screw up display switching.
But did you mean I screwed it up for every app or just for MrMC ? I asked that because Netflix or TV providers app is switching normally under 11.3 Beta 6 ...

ÉDIT : I just noticed that the Settings drop down menu (by pressing DOWN when video is paused with an IR Remote) is not activated. Normal ??

Re: Testing MrMC 3.5.1
So really the only downside for me in terms of the UI from the official Plex tvOS app to this plug-in is that it doesn't display collections when browsing "all" in the same way. In the official app, I really like the fact that my movies are still grouped into their specific collections (The Matrix films, Harry Potter, Rambo, etc.) even when I just browsing my entire "Movies" library. The only two custom collections I have are one for 4K films and one for concert blu-ray rips I've done.
Is this something that can be corrected on the MrMC end or is an update from Plex on the plug-in required?
Other than how it handles collections, I much prefer the look within the plug-in. It makes the official Plex tvOS app look dated by comparison.

Yes, I would like to have it too but, as far as I know, it is the plex addon that doesn’t support collection.jrcorwin wrote:So really the only downside for me in terms of the UI from the official Plex tvOS app to this plug-in is that it doesn't display collections when browsing "all" in the same way. I think that an update of the plugin side is needed to have them.
