I've tried under both AppleTV 4 and AppleTV 4K, and I just can't get it to hang.
Well, was about to change the settings in the PLex for MrMC addon, to enable Plex to start at MrMC startup and also selected debug logging. The moment I selected debug logging it crashed to ATV Home Screen.
During next startup of MrMC it jumped straight into Plex addon with no problems, but as soon as I went to settings and unselected the same options it crashed again to ATV Home screen.
What's running on my ATV 4K 64GB with master profile:
- DVBLink PVR
- Startup of PVR for recordings and EPG update
- Scan local lib
- Opacity skin

To add to that: Switching Sort Order ascending<>descending can cause crash to ATV Home screen again. Seems that if user selects new sort order while current sort is still in progress, that crash to ATV Home Screen is triggered.

Yes, that first time works just as you described. I do see the Opacity main screen twice as it moves into Plex. As if I’m running a two step, two screen sequence or macro. Everything happens without my input and I gracefully move right in Plex Add-on.
What you see is plex hilighted in addons window ? Sometimes, either Addons or Plex.
2nd attempt (clicking MrMc when it’s background) I see the main menu along left is Movies, TV, Plex, Add-ons, Settings. After 30-60-120 seconds the Word Add-0ns is Highlighted. I manually click and get to Programs/Addons, I manually click a seconds time and get into Plex.
Other times it Hangs at the word Plex, in which case I move along another screen and into Plex.
Waiting a long time 30-60 seconds, it's still there. But you can do a select and plex for kodi then runs ?

There are two possible states when you click on MrMC. Either the App is not in background and it is a from scratch startup. Or the App was in background and it is a resume. When you use menu to back out of MrMC, the app does not die and gets pushed into the background.
The Plex for Kodi setting only applies when the App is not running and is a from scratch startup.
At this point, there are many paths as to what a user might want to happen. For example, menu from 'plex from kodi' home to back out to tvOS home, or exit to MrMC. Same for entering. So until we come up with a clear and concise behavior, we will leave it as is.
Please keep the OSD-controls when playing videos as they are in Plex for Kodi, or at least make it optional to use them instead of the stock MrMc OSD-controls for video playback if you´re planning on implementing this change.

Optional I can agree with, but default behavior should be the MrMC controls. Most people will appreciate the nice video thumbnail scrubber, the ability to actually ff or rewind, and chapter skip over the CRAP that plex for "kodi" has.

Agree, but we get to choose that path when we EXIT the Plex Add-on. Why then? Because we checked Start MrMC Addon on Startup. When we ENTER we don't want to stop and figure out what all we should click on (We could land on Plex or we could land on Add-Ons) or whatever... we could be one screen away or three. We should get to land INSIDE the Add-on (from both sates) if that's what we checked. No? Both states should bring me into the Add-On.

6 - I tend to dislike hanging for network connections. Creates too many paths to deal with. Pretty sure it has a network timeout already, so I make it longer and the connection is still not there ? Now what ?
Please make requests in the requests section. TestFlight thread is for testing and fixing issues. If requests are made here, they can get lost where as we review the requests postings.
Thanks for the answers. I have one more which still doesn't work. When wathing tv and swiching Channel through Channel OSD menu it won't go away automatically. Have tried both in Amber and in Opacity same problem both skins.

It's not a hang You enter MrMC exactly the same place you back out of MrMC. That is by design.
"Start Plex on MrMC Startup" means exactly that and no more. Backing out and re-entering is not "Startup" it is a "Resume". It might look the same but what goes on is very different.
I know what you want (stay in plex all the time, even when backing out via menu to tvOS home) but that leaves the problem of then there is no way to get to back into MrMC to say change some settings.
And this is what I mean by many paths, your needs might be one path, another person might have other needs. Two choices on resume of MrMC, two choices on exit of plex. Plus certain combination of those choices result in potential for problems.
