plex library update interval??

In the Plex Service settings there is an option called "plex library update interval".
What does it do?
If it's turned off will the library never update?
If it's turned off will the "update library" menu on the home screen start an update?

I ask because I get a frequent stutter in my playback that only started when I moved to the plex service. I'm guessing that it is happening when the library is updated. I've currently turned this setting to "off" and am testing playback.

Any info would be appreciated.

Plex clients are never cached, so when you go into a plex client source, it pull new, once. Drill down then back up, it pulls new again.

"plex library update interval", this will update the contents every N mins. You would only see it if idling at some plex client source and something changed regarding the plex server content. For example, browse to some plex source, media item and wait. Then change the thumb on plex server side, it will get updated in MrMC after N mins. If off, you see old one until you go up which forces a new pull from the plex server.

It's something we initially added creating the plex client, seemed to make sense but just not sure of the utility now.

OK, I get that but based on limited testing turning it off has made a HUGE difference in my playback. I've had no stutter so far.

And two days later I've not had a single stutter. That feature is staying off.
