24Hz feature useable?

First of all let me comment that I have a Nvidia Shield TV as well and appreciate the feature of auto display refresh rate adjustment (mainly to 24Hz) by SPMC a lot.

So I was glad to hear that same will be supported by MrMC as well. But the result is poor...

The image is much smoother with playback at 60Hz. I am using the AFTV 1 gen. and I am facing studdering, asynchronity and slow-motion effects in 24Hz although the AFTV is switching to 24Hz and my TV is well supportng this rate. I am not sure if this is a software issue or a hardware limitation.

Therefore my question is: is 24Hz running well on a 2nd gen AFTV? This might be a good reason for me to upgrade the AFTV HW ;)

Thanks for feedback in advance

Holger

it works very well for me, AFTV2. Should be fine on AFTV1, mrmc.log please, debug enabled.

You will get it. But needs some time because first I need to find out how to do (there to enable debug, location of file). Maybe this is something for the FAQ!?

Would the OP have "sync to display" enabled together with refresh rate?

I noticed aftv1 is giving bogus vsync info in 24p.

That's why I want to see mrmc.log. It will tell me all :)

Hi, you can find my log at:

But let me add some more findings.

I tried 24Hz auto switching with my fire TV Stick and it worked fine. At least as long as passthrough was not activated. After activating passthrough I also had problems with the stick.

Next I disabled passthrough at my 1st gen AFTV. But there are still problems in 24Hz mode. So this points to a HW problem with the 1st gen AFTV.

Davilla ist 24Hz working buttersmooth with yout 2nd gen AFTV with passthrough activated?

So 1080p/24 is reported right.

Now a mrmc.log that shows the switch to 24. How long is your pause after switch ? If not long enough, that can cause initial a/v issues.

Passthough is fine for me, my stupid Denon W3200 can only handle DD, it has issues dealing with DTS (a Denon issue). I'm thinking of replacing it with a Denon 4200 which is reported not to have issues.

For now, stick to non-passthrough until we sort out 24hz issues.

I tried Auto-switch with the standard 4 seconds on my 1st gen AFTV.

The stick is normaly set to non-passthrough and 60Hz. Just changed it for testing on my TV in the living room.
