Upgrade to 3.9.1 fails to start after Fire TV install

After running reliably for a while I clicked to update the MrMc app on my Amazon Fire TV v1 and now it fails to start, on launch it says Starting Service... then sometimes Waiting for Service, then a blank screen, then back to the Home screen.
I've restarted my FireTV, uninstalled and reinstalled but it's still dead.
What should I try next? Is there anything useful I can see with adb connecting to the Fire TV?
Thanks
Simon

Yes, an "adb logcat" might tell us what's happening

Uninstalled using adb, cleared the log (logcat -c) and then reinstalled. Having captured that log I then cleared it again to capture the startup log only to find it started up as it should...which is a good result, I guess the adb uninstall tidied up better than the front end reinstallation?
Can't seem to get DTS
passthrough since the upgrade though -
passthrough is enabled, channels set to 5.1 and DTS Enabled Receiver is checked. Any ideas n this one? I uploaded a debug log in case that helps, ESZRR.log
Thanks
Simon

Did DTS work before? The log show the AFTV doesn't report support for it.
You should set channels to "2.0", uncheck DTS support and IEC, and check transcoding.

It did, yes, it was the reason I dropped Kodi for SPMC and then MrMC as nothing else seemed to
passthrough DTS. Given it's just a stream to the S/PDIF port does the AFTV need to support it?
I'm sure I can try transcoding but
passthrough seems like the right solution.

I had this issue, or one with similar symptom, previously as well, and was able to resolve it by going into the application settings in the fire, and then instructing it to clear its cache. Just in case that's useful for anyone...
