No Dolby or DTS

From the start i don't get any Dolby or DTS sound. With some settings i get static noise, if i change a few things, no sound at all.
The best i can get is stereo. I have a Sony STR-DN2010 receiver. No problems with that receiver before all pass through players i used did work fine. I have to admitt, it doens't work with Infuse also, but they are investigating the problem.
I don't see any issues here. Is this a familair problem? It seems a lot of Denon receivers suffer the same problem.

On the Sony turn off control for HDMI if enabled (HDMI-CEC) and set the sound field to standard.
On AppleTV audio and video settings
Audio Output = AppleTV
Surround Sound = Auto
Audio Mode = Auto
Try and see if that changes anything, if it doesnt then try setting audio mode = 16 bit.
My Sony works with the above settings.

Didn't do the trick for me.
My question is, Is MrMC aware of this problem? If yes, are they investigating this? Bitstream
passthrough an option?

Given that it is an issue specific to one kind of Sony receiver it might be tricky to resolve, that it doesn't work with Infuse either leads me to suspect some kind of HDMI handshaking issue. If it doesn’t work with Apple's own movies from iTunes store either then I think that would be confirmation.
I've been using AppleTV's for a long time since the first model and I have seen handshaking issues before (including my own Sony), usually Apple fixes it or you try another kind of HDMI cable or resort to a HDMI buffer/proxy if you will. Get a HDMI dual output clone or switch and put that between the AppleTV and the sound system, the device in the middle can usually resolve handshaking issues.
Your last option is check if the DN2010 has a firmware update option, it if does try you could try and see if Sony's own firmware resolves the problem.
I don’t know if it's possible to do MrMC debug logs like with regular Kodi but if you can that's about the only thing you can supply to the developers.

Apples pass-through is not perfect yet. We have see a few other reports of it not working on various amps. We are not alone in this as other apps are also having issues.

It isn't Sony specific, Denon receivers also has this problem. There is a test app available for the ATV. This works 100%.
I also tried an iTunes movie, also no problem.
Davilla, is MrMC investigating this, or is the problem not big enough and wait if Apple solve this?

On a related note, I've played several files with DTS successfully but had distorted almost garbled like audio when I played a Mpeg4 AVI that was AC3 5.1. It played fine through Plex though. I was able to replicate the issue. My AVR is a Pioneer.

Works fine on my Denon AVR-1912 so it's not ALL Denon amps.
What is the name of the test app ?

I also have problems with passtrough. I get DTS sound just fine. But when stopping playback all sound is gone in all apps/ui. No sound at all on Apple tv. Restarting Apple tv gets the sound back. I think actually DTS still works when this happens. All other sound is gone thou.
