OSD Timeout

I've noticed the "OSD Timeout" in the latest (3.0.3) release and some discussion of it the 3.0.4 thread. In the past, I've asked for something similar, but this isn't quite it.

Rather than timeout the "big" OSD when hitting Select/Enter (I'm using a third-party remote), I'd like to see a limited OSD that appears for about 3 seconds when hitting Play while playing back a program. This "limited" OSD would simply be the banner at the top of the screen, which contains times, progress, title, etc. This method of hitting Play for a temporary OSD progress bar would be the same action as the regular AppleTV action, and also that of other devices I've seen. Since the Play button has no other function when currently playing, it shouldn't interfere with any other actions.

For me, all I want to do is quickly see the progress and time remaining (or current time) as I'm watching a program, without covering up much most the screen. Having this top banner display on a 3 second timeout would be very useful.

As for a timeout for the full OSD as currently implemented, I don't believe there should be one as it interferes with the ability to look at the full information or move on to other functions in that mode.

I'm happy to see more opinions on that new feature, we're having a little discussion over on the "Testflight"-subforum.

I had another suggestion
viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1167&start=40#p8322

What do you think about that?

User options are always a good thing (maybe not for the developers). :)
