MrMC

Hello,

I have been going through the process of incorporating MrMC into my entertainment center. One part of this is loading up an m3u playlist from my being generated on my network. I can get that setup fine and I do get the channels from the m3u, however I do not believe MrMC makes any additional requests to my HTTP server to load up the latest m3u file.

Trying to debug the issue, I can go back into the IPTV Simple Client configuration, and hit 'ok' again (trying to force a refresh), and I get the notification that the right amount of channels has been reloaded (confirmed by seeing an http request to my server). However going back into the TV menu does not reflect the up to date list.

I have tried this with the 'cache' setting enabled and disabled but I am seeing the same problem. Ideally the TV channels would be automatically updated periodically.

Here you go! The generated urls + data are sensitive so i have, hopefully, removed specific names and urls and replaced it with [removed], then truncated the list where the lines would have been duplicated. I've tried my best to only remove names and urls (and additional lines that would have been copies), but if you'd prefer a more full log, I can regenerate an m3u file with nonsensitive data and run the experiment that way.

I would like to note that after that about second or third time of going into my addons and reconfiguring simple iptv (simply pressing ok to force an update), the TV list did update (which is also visible in the log). It might be the case that technically nothing is wrong with the functionality, but I'd love the ability to refresh data more frequently (or would appreciate any input on how to accomplish something like that!)

The third request is the request that updated the UI. This was about an hour and twenty minutes ago, which tells me during this time, no attempts have been made by the PVR client to refresh the list.

From somebody who is using simple iptv and tvheadend addons, tvheadend pushes new channels once they are created while simple iptv is not thought of as something that will change often.

No one thinks of m3u list as being dynamic and needing updates frequently. Only way you can refresh the list would be to either toggle TV services off/on or simply to restart MrMC.

Adding a refresh (or simple reload) of m3u list in addon is not a big issue, bigger problem is adding a timed one since the trigger needs to come from the core MrMC and tell addon to update.... I stand corrected there, would need to check the code to be 100% sure

That's what I was worried about. For what it's worth, I would be very happy with a simple refresh option in the left-side menu of the TV section. I can manually refresh the list when I want to see what new channels are added. I would not mind running some other software if it could provide better flexibility with this going forward though (the dream would be automatic refreshes). You mentioned TVHeaded - I will look into this. If this allows me to specify my own internal video url streams to be published, I'll go this route.

Appreciate it! I will try it out. If this solves my issue, I will be happy using it instead.

Have you been able to automate the process of what happens when an m3u being updated? Right now, in order for any new channels to get updated (or any old channels being removed), I've got to go in and recreate the service based on the muxes.
