Sony XBR930e:
MrMC 3.9-3 Git:2019-11-15-e7c9bdd
Same file as Shield testing

Video-Acceleration at defaults:
TV displays DV logo and reports in HDR/DV mode
Black picture

Video-Acceleration -Advanced timing disabled:
TV displays DV logo, in HDR/DV mode
Black picture

Video-Acceleration - MediaCodec (Surface) disabled, MediaCodec enabled:
TV reports DV mode, etc
Video plays but colors are way off I.e Red is purple, Green is orange, Blue is green etc.
Can’t tell what color space (no Diva in the chain...) but might be 709...
Multiple playing of DV files - no crashes like Shield

I know it’s not Android, but since I was testing - thought I would do the same testing on ATV4K.

Video-Acceleration at defaults

MrMC 3.9-2 Git:2019-09-19-b956598

TV reports DV, Diva reports 4k23.973 422 BT2020 12b DV 297MHz 2.2
Video plays fine - but colors are way off - same color mismatches as Sony with MediaCodec...

Disabled Allow hardware acceleration - AVFoundation.
Same result
Turned on Use VideoToolBox for 4K HEVC HDR content
Same result...

Same video plays fine, DV, correct colors using Infuse.

With Settings-Video-Acceleration at defaults -
DV file plays, TV reports DV, colors are “ok” but somewhat washed out
Diva reports this signal - 4K23.972 422 BT709 12b DV 297MHz 2.2
Main point - color space should be BT2020
Which Shield Experience version do you have?
And do you have the Match Content Color Space feature enabled?

Because for the 2019 shield with Shield Experience 8.1, there is a bug that shield doesn't output BT.2020, because the switch isn't working. You need install the HotFix
Have a look here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/fo ... fix-image/

This could be be problem for this. For the crashes I have no idea.

I do have the latest hot fix installed. It does correctly switch for HDR10 for me.
But, unfortunately there is still an issue on the Shield that does not switch correctly for DV on Sony series of TV’s. NVidia is aware of this and will have a fix in the next release (hopefully;-)

With that said, other applications play DV content fine - Plex, Netflix and Disney+

MrMC is almost there!

I have a sony 900f and a 2019 shield with the hotfix. Only way I can get the correct color space with DV is turn off the color space switch on the shield and make sure that the hdmi port on the tv is set to HDR auto and color space auto.
Not sure how or if the 930e would be the same but at least on the 900f it works,

Yes, that’s what I do on my x930e... odd, the switch seems reversed!
Off, everything looks fine including DV.

Hopefully there will be a fix soon.

They are working on it for sure. The switch is indeed reversed or so it seems.

The problem is that device makers have to worry about two forms of Dolby Vision. The original, and then the sony (low latency) version. Getting everything bug free is apparently a difficult task. Then you have people complaining about their LG TVs not showing bt2020 along with DV ...but the truth is, it shouldn't. The original DV will not result in your TV saying bt2020 along with DV. But, the sony type DV will. So, they apparently are only accustomed to seeing sony DV. Thus, when the shield does original DV they think it's broken because they don't see bt2020. sigh

If someone could get me a logcat while the shield is crashing / rebooting, it would help.
Obviously a codec bug, but yeah, only mrmc is crashing it, apparently...

I'm busy now and will be away from home for the next few days. Hopefully somebody else can get the logcat you need.

I can reproduce it. I have shell access and can run logcat.
Any particular flags?
Once I get it, how do you want me to send the file?
