I've tried the latest test build of SPMC (16.5.82) and running live tv with Deinterlacing on or off makes no difference (UK live tv - 25fps). I am hoping Davilla can sprinkle some magic pixie dust to make it work!

Switching off (surface) always improved it in SPMC for me.

I did :) mpeg2 1080i deinterlacing is broke in spmc/kodi 16/17 and seriously broke in kodi 18. Will be fixed in MrMC 3.0.1. Even works now on my test fireOS tablets.

And h264 too?

for droid, h264/interlaced is now enabled for MediaCodec.

what decoder is this talking about? in spmc surface looks great with mpeg2 1080i. can't turn deinterlacing off or on with surface so I assume it's about AMC non-surface or ffmpeg2.

Would love to see spmc.log, amazon specs say mpeg2 hw decode is not supported.

interesting way to get a log. http://paste.semperpax.com/p8ee8wjpk

see if that has what you need. codec info says it's AMC(s) decoding.

line 345 of the log 09:35:04.506 T:1587534112 DEBUG: FactoryCodec - Video: amc-mpeg2(S) - Opened

Ahhh - not surface. Just be warned that for UK content Mediacodec seems to work fine for BBC content but drops frames like crazy for Channel 4 and ITV (in the latest SPMC build). You may have fixed it though. Can send you a sample if you want to test?
