yes, there is a username/password to access the SMB server. not sure what you mean by "real one". if browsing works it would ask me for the username and password when I click on the machine name. but I never get there

the SMB server is just shared folders/files on my windows machine, which is a pro version. I share with myself, thus the username/password required so as to log in as myself.

there are no options for what kind of debug logging to enable. but component specific options include SMB library. that's the closest option I could see. nothing about samba in there.

I have been testing the beta, seems to run ok, but I have no way of setting the resolution switching in the GUI. I was hoping for auto switching the output signal to match the format of the source (720/1080/4k) as my Samsung 8000 series does a better job of upscaling then the Shield TV

debuglog so we can see what your hdtv reports it can do.

The Shield doesn't allow that, it just allows refresh rate switching. It's been requested on their forums (a lot) so there's hope one day they might get around to it.

1) playback of a pawn stars episode starts and then in a couple seconds freezes, every time.

2) a 96khz truehd track, from oblivion, doesn't play. I know on the other devices that's expected but I think the shield should support that. it tries to passthrough but then skips in and out a few times then is gone.

3) I can't access my SMB network on shield or on the firetv. on the apple tv it works just fine. I get a connection timed out error.

all three of these events is in the log linked above.

OK, I've uploaded to the shared dropbox a sample of Oblivion with the 96khz soundtrack as default. And one of you should have the problematic pawn stars ep already.

There's an issue with backgrounding and continuing to play music. It will still "play" but it'll slow down and get really jumpy. Here's the log: https://stephens.cc/mrmc.log
