Quick impression. I tried a few DVD .iso files I still have on my NAS and so happy I can watch my old Ewok DVDs again
Menu navigation all seems to work fine. Bitstreaming of the audio as well. Subtitles also ok, though rendered a bit on the large side, but guess it's because DVD are 480p, so subtitles are blown up as well.
(also tried Blackhole and The Abyss, both are widescreen DVDs)
EDIT: AFAIK, DVDs are 480 or 576i, so the ATV has to do deinterlacing. Looked fine to me, though peope have complained about the deinterlacing of MrMMC in the past. Guess you are using the selected mode under Settings.
EDIT2: tried the new SIO2 skin. Still prefer the default one. Funny thing is with SIO2, if you exit to the home screen and go back to MrMMC you briefly see the default skin before SIO2 is active. My biggest issue with SIO2 is that it feels more narrow, files are listed on the right side vs left side in the old skin. Also more sluggish.
EDIT3: using libdsm (the new
SMB client): after the NAS has gone to standby, MrMMC fails to open/connect the NAS share on my QNAP TS-451. Just "couldn't connect" error messages. I hear the drives spinning up. This is different from 1.5 and earlier versions introducing libdsm. It is fixed if you kill the app and restart, but then of course my NAS has woken up.

wake-on-access is enabled ? would really like to get a mrmc.log with debug enabled that shows this. You can fetch the previous log by using mrmc.old.log .

First off. Thanks for the TestFlight invite.
Initial impressions are excellent. It upgraded my existing install to the TestFlight build.
I started getting buffering messages on livetv, and video would initially play, then some seconds later pause, and buffering message displays, then playback starts once more. I also noticed that AV was out of sync.
I then uninstalled MrMC, rebooted AppleTV 4, then reinstalled MrMC thru TestFlight again.
This time, no issues with buffering or AV sync.
(Perhaps is best to uninstall 1.5 version before trying TestFlight version.)
I can report that finally I can schedule a recording with The MediaPortal PVR plugin.
All seems to work fine. The MediaPortal PVR plugin is new version, and has an extra option in config settings for the PVR plugin. The option enables classic timer settings behavior. With the option enabled, when you select a show to record, it pops up recording settings, and you make your choices, and press OK. With the option disabled, it just sets the timer without bringing up any options.
Either way tho, the important thing is it can now record a show once more using MediaPortal, so MrMC is once again a PVR!. MediaPortal as backend works extremely well, with near instantaneous channel changing.
Tried out the new AppleTV style SI02 skin . One thing I noticed, is that when I go to the 'LiveTV/Recordings' screen, I have issue that there is no highlighted bar colour, so you can not tell what file you are selecting, or where you are on the file list.
Am guessing is a small issue in the skin itself?.
Another anomaly I am seeing, is that on AppleTV home screen, the MrMC app shows an orange dot, which I thought indicated an available update. When I go into apps/purchased, it indicates an update, and when I select that, it reinstalls the 1.5 version of MrMC.
I take it that one is supposed to ignore the orange dot during TestFlight testing of the MrMC 2 build?
I will try out the other new features in due course, but at present am giving the PVR/live tv functions a good thrashing, and also trying out all the media types I have, including very high bitrate Bluray rips, and MrMC is handling them all like a champ.
Also enjoying the Kodi Jarvis feature of non linear stretch of 4x3 content. Makes watching the more classic content look great in 16x9 full screen.
That is one thing I really have to comment on, as it is so nice being able to fiddle with aspect etc, something that most other apps do not allow, or require lots of transcoding.
Infuse users rave about that app, but just for the aspect and non linear stretch, MrMC 2 is light years ahead, as far as this user is concerned, where PVR and playing media well is more what interests me.
To the developers, I would just like to say 'well done'. This software improves in leaps and bounds.

OK. My fault I didn't state my setup before. I am using ATV4 connected to a Denon W1200X and my TV connected from the Denon both cables are high end HDMI (1.4).
DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1 works fine from an app called TheaterTest and from files played through iTunes. Files are stored on my NAS and no trans coding takes place.
When using MrMC all files are identified as Stereo and only front left and front right speakers are active on my AVR. If I activate Passthrough I only get static noise. This issue has been addressed numerous times on this forum and I think everyone knows about the problem.

I can second that for TVheanded......is starts play immideatly....then it after 2 secs buffer for 5-7 secs, and then it play fine afterwards (had a few times in the test phase where it lost sound in playback, but not sure if it was Livetransmisison or Kodi so to speak!

Well I did find a small glitch in the Amber skin, where it doesn't show an icon for videos in progress, it's just black.
Watched and not watched however works.

Everything works fine so far. Now I can watch Eddie Murphy's Raw again (dvd, ISO)

. Eddy Murphy's Delirious will have to wait (dvd, video_ts).
Two small "scares": I had no scrollbar in list view anymore, but luckily that was a setting I could enable. And empty tv show folders didn't show anymore, only folders that actually contained a video file. This was also fixable thru the settings
Regarding these last remarks: if you decide to make certain UI elements configurable thru settings, you might default them to what they used to be. And add to the release notes which components in MrMC are now configurable.
One final remark: I used to really like the fact that the OSD for Amber was nice and minimal. Only a bar at the top and a bar at the bottom. Now, the Amber OSD covers a lot of screen area, even including the synopsis/plot of the video plus a picture (screen grab for tv show, dvd cover for movie). I don't think this is an improvement at all.

A 2015 Denon W1200X ? This also work with Infuse, if so which version ?
Also, what are your tvOS audio settings ?
And last, is your receiver getting DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1 compressed and decoding it or MPCM (multi-channel PCM).
