Thanks for the hint; it works, but it would have been much easier to show up the Letter as the scrolling speed increases.
I really like it this way, but I guess to each their own. This way is pretty unique and works really good.
Yes, sure; I'm a person who prefers automatic transmission over the manual in a car ;)
Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of the up/down arrows?

I don not recall it has been so slow before. just to make sure, Using libsmb2 instead of libdsm does not change much; smb stat is unchecked.
smb client does not matter if using plex client.
as mentioned before, plex metadata fetching has been serialized to prevent a plex server side bug fetching it.
Now I understand, thanks.
Using the Emby client, the page fills up almost instantly while scrolling.

What do transmissions have to do with anything?

I would assume to visually show that you can go up and down. If you're at the bottom you can only go up so there's only an up arrow, and at the top there's only a down arrow to show you can only go down.

The analogy to automatic/manual transmission is that, in case of automatic, the assistance to the user/driver comes when needed (here, fast scrolling) while in case of manual, the user can, any time, press the clutch and shift the gears, here means tap on the remote to show the letter.

The direction of scrolling is in fact shown by the letters themselves as they appear which make a diction indicator unnecessary. But, as you said, it is a matter of personal preference.

EDIT: I suggest that, beside the letter, only that arrow should appear that indicates the direction of scrolling. Actually, the drawer itself is unnecessary. If possible, the drawer could be made to appear automatically as the speed of scrolling increases.

tvOS 12.1
Plex Extension
- TV Shows do not show completely in the icon view; only the top of last row is seen. The list view displays all the shows.
- the issue of non-scrolling top-most row of the home page is still persistent

EDIT: I deleted the TF and installed 3.7.0 from the App store; the first issue (TV Shows) does not exist there!

tvOS 12.1
Ariana and Opacity (I doubt other skins too)

Emby client:
- selecting Movies points to the correct library; continue watching just shows two grey posters which point to empty media
- selecting TV Shows shows the shares of the library, not the library itself. Each share can be selected individually and show the media in it.
- the labelling issue (all labels are missing) is still persistent

A lot of people don’t use the Siri remote, so it’s really needed for them to fast scroll.

I can confirm this. Using a Harmony remote e. g. it is an improvement for navigating through large lists.

I don’t have the Harmony remote, but I used the aluminum Apple remote instead of the Siri remote for navigating the movie list on Ariana and Opacity. Opacity shows the letter when I long press the up/down buttons. The same happens on Ariana with the right-side drawer activated, the letter is displayed while scrolling but I can’t use the arrows on the drawer for any control action, the up and down arrows are just displayed statically. So, what am I missing?

Thanks

EDIT: may be we better take this discussion to the Ariana section for not to clutter the TF thread.

Feedback Ariana NON-PVR mode:

Icons View media:
Now the scroller thing (with up/down triangle) on right side contains 1 letter or 1 digit, depending on sort options selected. Can the number of digits shown be expanded so it shows more info, depending on sort option used.

For example:
Sort option year, scroller thing shows 4 digits like 2018, 2005, 1996 etc
Sort option rating, scroller thing shows 2 digits like 8.5, 7.2, 5.6 etc
