Hi,
I am having an issue trying to use Samba V2 with MRMC on the ATV 4k. When i connect MRMC as a client to my WIndows 8.1 machine using Samba V1, it works fine. I would like to use a higher version of Samba (V2) for security.
Here some of what I've done so far.
Add Video Source (my pc name or ip) tried both ways
Add network location, then SMB, server name is my pc's name or ip tried both multiple time
For username and password, I made an account on my PC just for MRMC and shared files with the appropriate persmissions. After filling in user name and password it prompts me to "lock down" settings. I again enter same username and password from the screen before, and nothing happens, just an endless loop of prompting.
This only happens when I shut down SMB V1 on my Pc. If I leave SMB V1 enabled, works fine.
I see a few others have had this problem further in the past when Windows depreciated SMB V1, but I couldn't find an answer that worked.
Some of the suggestions were new account with username and password on the PC just to use with MRMC, use ip instead of PC"s name,
Ive did several combinations of both and no dice.
Two questions: Should I be using libdsm or libsmb2 for use with my Windows 8.1 PC?
Also when it prompts for the shared folder does it just want the shared folder name or the whole path, for example, users\me\desktop\shared folder name. Ive tried every combo I can think of and no joy.
My debug log I uploaded is D27DM.log
Sorry for being long winded,
awesome program and thanks

libdsm is for smb1.
libsmb2 is for smb2.
libsmb2 requires both username and password.

Yes I've tried it with both many times and also put in the username and password everytime. It just keeps looping.
Can I ask again about the path to the shared folder. What i really need to know is can I just input the shared folder name or do I need the full path. I see on other "Kodi Type" programs it looks like you only have to specify the drive letter in front of the share name,

Re: SMB Username and Password Loop
smb from client perspective knows nothing about server drive letters. It only know the advertised mount point name (share name).
Anything strange about username/password ? Using special characters ?
I see that your mount point name has a space it it. Maybe remove it ?
Are you going direct or via browse/zeroconf ?
