For those who stream their movies from the network, did you disabled the IPV6 in the shield network settings ?
It could be a root cause of stutter.
does it works for you?
I haven't tried it, when playback is not smooth I just pause the playback for few seconds, play again and it fixes it
haven't thought of disable IPV6

yes it works for me.
As i already said i have no playback issue with MrMc (it works better than Kodi).

I did some changes in the shield settings (i have a 4K TV).
Display :
Change HDMI resolution / color space to 4K 60Hz 12 Bit YCrCr 422 BT.2020
Enable the automatic color space switch feature between BT.2020 and BT.709 in the developper menu
see https://www.reddit.com/r/ShieldAndroidT ... switching/.

Network :
Use wired (no wifi) and fixed IP
IPv6 is disabled
Network scan disabled

In MrMc:
I use NFS shares mounted directly into MrMc (SMB sucks)
adjust display refresh rate = on start / stop
pause during refresh change = 5.0 seconds
sync playback to display = off
Resolution : 3840x2160@60Hz
set GUI resolution limit = unlimited
allow hardware acceleration - Mediacodec (Surface) = on
Advanced timing disabled.
allow hardware acceleration - Mediacodec = off
Audio Set Number of Channel : 2.0
Audio Passthrough select only Dolby Digital AC3 Audio + enable Dolby Digital transcoding (the shield is connected to my TV and i use ARC as my audio receiver is HDMI 1.4 only)

Moreover, be sure that you don't have any application running in the background which could impact the network bandwith or the shield performance.

thanks, I will try
IPv6 is disabled
Network scan disabled

I don't think other settings are related,
Advanced timing is great and without it audio is sometime not sync
I do not use ARC it is sucks and can't handle audio above DTS i.e. Atoms

thanks
Elad

The videos 1080p/4k at 24p run correctly with this configuration:

MediaCodec Surface enabled.
Advanced timing disabled.
MediaCodec disabled.

But with the same configuration, the videos at 25p when I advance a few minutes to video and I play it, sometimes the reproduction is not smooth (the sound is correct). So if I pause and play it again, the reproduction is correct. But I discovered that activating the option sync playback to display, the videos at 25p no longer stutter when the video is advanced.

Any explanation to this?

Yes at first glance recent changes seem to have improved or removed the jerky playback I saw before.

Per the tips from supertoto1977 I found that (on first glance) switching from using SMB to NFS did result in improved or removed occasional pausing (buffering) during high bitrate UHD rip playback.

Just to add my own 2 cents to this conversation. I just spent two weeks debugging an issue with my setup - the short version is that the files were somehow corrupted. Fresh rips of retail discs ended up solving the problem.

Just in case someone else ever has this same issue. It was incredibly frustrating.
