Testing MrMC 3.7.0 - [Invites Closed]

Now, I'm confused. The tvOS screensaver should be enabled to fire when paused. That's as designed. We block (disable) it when playing. When stop/pause, tvOS screensaver is enabled to fire (it's count down starts). When in GUI, each time a users nav's around, the tvOS screensaver timer is reset.

I'm saying that the stream pauses by itself as the screensaver comes on. I'm saying the stream doesn't stop or keep playing in the background. The screensaver coming on and apparent pause happen simultaneously and I'm not doing it. I only said that to give you something to look for in the log.

- In Ariana: when choosing icon view, the fanart is not visible in the background.

I’ve removed fanart as it served no purpose in grid view.

I kind of liked it in list view. Can you make it a selectable option ?

Okay, I just trying playing the same dual layer m2ts file that I have been testing.

• I did not seeing the macroblocking smear type thing that I mentioned before.

• What I am getting is serious buffering. It only plays for 2-3 seconds before the circle pops up and spends 10-15 seconds buffering from about 30%-100%.

• It is NOT triggering HDR of any kind.

Again, none of these issues in Infuse or the native Plex (beta) app. The only downside to the Plex app is that it is transcoding the audio.

Nothing in log is HEVC. They look like the above. H264 with acc audio. Smells like someone is transcoding.

Opacity:
-Confusing OSD when the video is playing. If I tap I get the information, and can't get it to go away, until I two-finger tap, which brings up the playback buttons where I can scrub and stop and etc, and then a single tap to get it to go away. On iOS I think a tap should bring up the playback controls, then swipe down for the information/subtitle/audio/settings, then a tap again puts the OSD away. Right now I have to single finger tap, two-finger tap, and then scrub to where I want.

There has been an issue with packaging on iOS and Ariana skin has been included, sorry about that.

Next iOS TF will have it removed and we might add Ariana Touch in it to replace re-touched.. still doing internal tests to see if it’s ready

Had a quick play last night.
Couple of brief first impressions:
- Ariana skin looks great. Really matches the TVOS look. Great work.
- I can now connect to my Win10 server using SMB2/3

Couple of oddities:
- When first installing, it asked to try the new skin. Accepting this prompt didn’t activate it.

- on the new skin, when going down a level into the Movies/TV Shows details, pressing the “back” button (Menu button but I’m using CEC) brings up the view/sort/filter options instead of going straight back to home. Is this designed to work this way? Other skins I’ve used require the user to press “left” or “up” to trigger this and “back” takes you straight back.

- libsmb2 - I can connect to my win10 box running smb3 I did notice that if I try mapping the root folder of the share it fails. I had to map a folder 1 level deep and it worked.

- bit depth. Pretty sure this is a TVOS issue. Playing back 10 bit material is being output as 4:2:2 8bit instead of 4:2:0 or 4:4:4 10bit. This is resulting in banding. Edit: this is also happening with Netflix and Amazon Video when watching DV and HDR content. So presume it is TV OS issue.
This is based on my quick play with it last night, but overall I’m impressed
Note: I didn’t capture any debug logs as it was late and wasn’t planning on testing it properly.

Just need to work out what in my device chain is causing the banding.

Edit: I have a few single layer dolby vision test files that use the .mp4 container. These do not play in MrMC but play in the Sony TVs inbuilt player. The DV test files that are.ts or .m2ts do play in MrMC

Is it using AVFoundation for decoder for your 10bit material? If not, have you tried disabling Videotoolbox to force AVF use?

@ jrcorwin, smb/nfs, plex client and plex extension. All tested and should be fine with the m2ts monster

Still think that the “traditional” Layout of this and other skin is not suitable for touch UI in general.
