TVOS 11.4, I've read when they added in AirPlay2, they really messed things up.
Yeah I figured they made a mess of things not using AVPlayer. The audio in MrMC is always at least slightly out of sync on my HomePod when it is working anyway (it always was, even with AirPlay 1). AVPlayer apps work fine, I’ve just been using the Plex app lately and hating my life tbh. If it’s too much work to fix I understand, not a lot of people airplaying. Maybe Apple will fix it (though it isn’t in tvOS 12 betas, i tried them).

Apps that have implemented airplay 2 all work perfectly, but if that’s not feasible with MrMC I understand. Thanks for looking into it in any case.

Not done yet, this is just preliminary investigation results.

I am not really sure what any of that means. All of my content is on Google Drive, mounted to macOS via PlexDrive and organized via Plex

Awesome, AirPlay sync is MUCH better now - though my log fills up with 'large audio sync error' now. The number keeps changing though so I assume it's adjusting sync dynamically since it varies? Whatever it is the audio is in perfect sync now.

The playing through HDMI after turning TV off/on is still happening, though.

I will test again when I get home, but I took a brief look this morning. My m2ts files with a Dolby Vision layer struggle to play and...I don’t know how to describe it...have a macroblocking smear effect.

Also, and this has been an issue for a while, when browsing from the front page of the Plex plug-in and when browsing my overall TV Shows category the background art is a low resolution Big Bang Theory background of the entire cast.

Regarding the m2ts with second DV video stream problem, is there a sample that can be tested that should work?

I created one the other day using tsmuxer (from a UHD bluray folder) but both shield and atv4k had trouble playing it back - the audio queue kept emptying was the problem I saw looking at codec info. I've deleted that file but I suppose I could make it again.

I figured it was just a problem with tsmuxer being years old so I didn't say anything here.
