Is it a geographical issue?

I have never stumbled over -time for the remaining playtime. Any "player" I can remember uses +time for remaining playtime. To clarify, I live in Switzerland where influence from Germany, France etc. is tech-wise strong. To be honest, displaying the remaining playtime with a +time makes more sense to me as well. The overall playtime for, let's say a movie, is 95 minutes. The remaining time lasts for, for example, (+)45 minutes. What I read is "The movie will lasts for 45 minutes more." I don't read "Oh, the movie ends in (-)45 minutes." You understand me, it's more the positive vs. negative approach?! Having said that, I am sure that all (most of) the users in Western Europe are used to +time.

The have been 2 opposite opinions in this thread. Are you guys from the US? Is it the usual way, that all/most of the players, cable boxes etc. use the -time and therefore taking the perspective from a different (negative) angle, so to say, this movie will end in 45 minutes?

To summarize for me personally, both perspectives are not wrong, both timestamps are correct. But again, I would be irritated by a negative timestamp.

A big thank you to amet & eazytv 👍🏼

The + is really displayed on every TV receiver and that's why I took it over. I still have time and this is positive for me (+).
A - would irritate me just like you eazytv.

Look at Google for VU+, Dreambox or GigaBlue Infobar. It shows the remaining time always with a + on live TV.

First, thank you eazytv for the calm and reasonable reply. There's no need for anyone to be so combative in a discussion such as this.

I live in Australia and have found the following:

Image

Netflix app on an Apple TV 4K showing a - .

Image

Netflix window on a Chrome browser on Win 10 PC showing no - .

I don't care which is used, but both exist.

I'm also more for the plus because that's also familiar to me.

Maybe there is a possibility for a setting where everyone can decide for themselves whether plus or minus. Then there are no arguments about plus or minus ;)

I'm definitely looking forward to the customized Infobar.

So here we are 😊

To respond to the one mentioned by Montoya ... I think it is very good that the infobar and the description are separate from each other.
It is really tricky to call the description. The info bar must first be called up and then quit with *Home*. Then the buttons appear as recording, pause, etc.
If you then click up the description comes. Getting used to but feasible.
Maybe both should be displayed by clicking Home; Description and Controlbar!?

And unfortunately, the OSD Time can no longer be set. There is currently a fixed value of 5 sec. Awarded by the system that can not be changed.

Osd time doesn’t worry me, we can deal with that ...

What I would like to establish is what should be shown and when... current state is like @Ted377 wanted and @Montoya is not happy :)

Let’s hear what works and why and coding it in should not be an issue...

Actually, Montoya and I agreed that the description and the infobar are displayed separately.
I assume that he is not satisfied with how to call the description. It's just a bit complicated.

My suggestion was that you could control it with OK Click. Click on OK once to call the infobar and double click also calls the description.
If you just click OK once and do nothing else, the infobar disappears after the set time.
