Shield - subtitles failed to download

Post by lapfrank » 23 Jun 2018, 18:58

Hi all,

I've been a long time user of both KODI and SPMC and recently purchased Mrmc. I'm mostly satisfied, but I can't get subtitles to work at all. When looking at the debug logs, it just states "failed to download". Permissions are correct (I can download with both KODI and SPMC fine to the same SMB folders). Is there something from the shield specifically that's preventing write access to SMB shares? Anyone else not being able to download subtitles from opensubtitles?

Thanks,

I think you need to look into the shield settings where app permissions are...and enable write permission for MrMC.

Thanks, good point, I hadn't thought about that. I turned in on, rebooted the shield, but I'm still getting the exact same "failed to download" error :(

I tried clearing the app cache and it also made no difference.
Here's an extract from the log file. I can't really see anything that would indicate the problem... Ideas?

Re: Shield - subtitles failed to download

update: I went ahead and completely uninstalled mrmc and re-installed it. Configured everything and now it works!
I did try to change to a "custom location" and I get the failed to download, even if I set it to the same exact directory that the TV show is in. When removing the custom location again, it starts working.

thanks for the help.
