Re: Testing MrMC 3.9.0 - Apple TV - [Invites Closed]

Also upgraded to 3.9 from 3.81 with PVR enabled. (Mediaportal)
It crashes on startup displaying the splash screen.

Reloaded 3.81 over top, and all is normal again.

HDR10 Black Crush

Hello. Just thought this might interest AppleTV4k users who have noticed black crush with HDR content. I reported this initially as a bug with MrMC, but later discovered I was wrong, and that this is actually an Apple issue. I then reported it to Apple using their Bug Reporter system. I was then con...

SOLVED: Mediacodec Surface and Mediacodec HDR and SDR

Okay, finally worked out how the Mediacodec settings work. Have never used SPMC before, so just had it on default settings, which seem to use Surface Mode for everything. Now just have surface mode enabled for my 4k movies, and Mediacodec for everything else, and I then get HDR on 4k, and brightness...

Re: Missing Shadow Detail, nothing below 2.5% black

I mentioned this very issue in the Testflights. It appears to be a limitation with either the AppleTV4k hardware itself, or it's firmware, as I have noticed subtle differences between firmwares. One thing I noticed being a Sony owner myself, (Oled) is that I had to go into the sets Picture/Advanced ...

Mediacodec Surface and Mediacodec HDR and SDR

New question, following on from tip from Davilla. Ok, with Surface codec mode disabled, I lose HDR on my 4K movies, but gain brightness and contrast controls to be able to adjust white and black clipping on SDR content. With Surface codec mode enabled, I get back HDR, but am back to square one in re...

Re: White Clipping Update

I don't think I read your reply correctly. Failed to notice that you said disabling surface codec allows brightness and contrast adjustment. Just tried it, and you were of course correct. For some reason I had both enabled. So, am pretty happy now, as have tweaked the levels, and have full range bla...

Re: White Clipping

Okay, thanks very much for enlightening me. I suspected as much tho, but was unaware that the same thing occurs on the AppleTV using AVF. Bit disappointing for a media streamer like the Shield that has received so much hype as the best Android TV Box. I purchased the android version of MrMC, and ins...

White Clipping

Hello. Long time MrMC user here, but not on this platform. Just got an NVidia Shield, so am going to put my favourite software 'MrMC' onto it. Been messing with MrMC Lite and seeing how it compares to my AppleTV4k version. Have noticed something, and wondered if there is anything that can be done to...

Re: Testing MrMC 3.8.0 - [Invites Closed]

HDR Update: Typo.... In MRMC settings, I have 'Use VideoToolBox for 4K HEVC HDR'. disabled. Also, I discovered a new 12.2 TVOS update, and after updating, I now find that Dolby Vision auto recognition now works again, and correctly detects those signals. Am thinking updating the TVOS to beta is acco...

Re: Testing MrMC 3.8.0 - [Invites Closed]

HDR Update: Ok, I had a bit more of an experiment, and managed to display those HDR 10 patterns a heck of a lot better. I am thinking it is something on my Oled TV causing this issue with the HDR 10 patterns. I have actually changed TV's from an LG Oled to a Sony Oled It has video options for HDR mo...
