Re: DOLBY ATMOS in IOS 12

From what I've heard (though no solid confirmation), the AppleTV uses Dolby MAT which is essentially PCM audio + Atmos metadata, this only works with HDMI pass-through to a Dolby Atmos sound system. It may not do Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 with Atmos over ARC which is how some get Atmos working on other...

Re: Future Platform support

In somewhat surprising news Kodi is getting a full UWP port with Xbox One compatibility, very light on details or time frames. Kodi is on Win10 app store but as a bridged UWP/Win32 app, those weren't supported in a pure UWP only environment, it might be MS is loosening up what can run on Xbox too. M...

Re: Future Platform support

From what I've heard Nintendo Switch - Uses custom API's from Nvidia, still there is a remote possibility it may allow OpenGL/Vulkan for use on lesser titles or apps with Nvidia doing the under the bonnet work, really it's a wait and see. PlayStation - uses custom Sony API's for everything, it doesn...

Re: HEVC 10 Bit x265 Playback Buffering

Separate from MrMC, HEVC is in limbo and looks like it will end up like DivX back in the day, ironically it was some of the same MPEG LA member companies that torpedoed DivX becoming the early internet streaming codec who did the exact same thing to HEVC. Apple was all in on HEVC but it's IP & licen...

Re: Full Range Video Levels no longer working with MrMC.

Something to watch out for is that on the AppleTV the color levels are not exactly well labeled. RGB High = 16-235 RGB Low = 0-255 This is often the opposite of most other AV devices were low/limited = 16-235, I was going crazy manually setting this on my Samsung TV which has corresponding limited (...

Re: Future Platform support

So I picked up an xbox one real cheap now that MS have a newer model out, I know you ruled out any uwp version of MrMC at the start of this thread, that said Microsoft have updated the uwp platform as part of the anniversary win10 update, has anything changed that might improve the odds ? They rele...

Re: wireless hdd sharing on iPad

I have a kingston mobile-elite version of one of these wireless storage devices (uses SD card) for use with ipad. It works though you must update the firmware and manually enable SMB file server in the associated app with the device. After that point it at smb://192.168.202.254/SD_Card1/ as the medi...

Re: Fire TV: Play BluRay disc/DVD from USB drive

Does the FireTV (original) actually have the hardware to play VC-1,MPEG-2,H.264 Blu-ray, I though it was just a H.264 box, maybe the newer 4K model does ? The ideal method would be Amazon just licenses the stuff itself and sell their own BD player on it's app store and say hey buy any USB BD drive f...

Re: Kiosk Mode

The kiosk option is something that is exposed/enabled in third party skins, it's not part of stock Kodi skin.

Some skins support it like transparency, sio2 but thats all I can recall.
