Re: Support for 2018 ipad Pro (11 & 12) resolutions

Yup, still no iPad Pro 11 inch support eventough the device was released 5 (!) months ago. Also, according to Apple: "Starting March 2019, all iOS apps submitted to the App Store will need to be built with the iOS 12.1 SDK or later, and support the all-screen design of iPhone XS Max or the 12.9-inch...

Re: Dolby Vision

There's a new build of x265 available (2.9+14) with the following changelog: - added support for Dolby Vision profile 5 - added support for Dolby Vision RPU muxing (If given, x265's Dolby Vision metadata parser will fill the RPU field of input pictures with the metadata read from the file. The libra...

Re: Dolby Vision

For a little experiment I encoded the base layer of a DV movie with x265 (to save space) and muxed this with the original enhancement layer and ac3 audio. It plays on the TV as DV and looks identical to the original one but seeking doesn't work. Whenever I try to skip ahead the movie jumps back to ...

Re: Dolby Vision

Like I said the resulting MP4 is not single layer:

Video: HVC1 3840x2160 23.976fps 51223kbps [V: video handler (hevc main 10, yuv420p10le, 3840x2160, 51223 kb/s)]
Video: DVHE 1920x1080 23.976fps 63kbps [V: video handler (dvhe / 0x65687664, 1920x1080, 63 kb/s)]

Re: Dolby Vision

Unfortunately the resulting file doesnt play on ATV4K probably because it also has two videostreams embedded just like the original m2ts. The TV however recognizes DV and upon checking yesterday with Matrix Revolutions the picture really looks better than the hdr10 version, more saturated colors, mo...

Re: Dolby Vision

It indeed works just omit the "--progress" part. My LG B8 detected DV via the internal player and picture is great.

Re: Testing MrMC 3.3.1

Made some HDR comparisons between MrMC, TV's built-in player (Samsung KS8000) and madVR. It looks as if black levels are a bit elevated but only in some scenes not throughout a full movie. Color seems a bit over saturated with MrMC. The TV's player and madVR look identical. So maybe the elevated bla...

Re: Passthrough stopped working in tvOS 11.2 b1

Sorry to resurrect this topic. I have noticed recently (perhaps after the 3.3.1 update) that TrueHD tracks are sent as DD to my receiver and not as PCM like it used to. Enable passthrough and DD/DTS capable receiver are ticked. TrueHD tracks don't normally have an AC3 core like DTS-HDMA so I wonder ...

Re: HDR Support tvOS 11.2 b1

Could be that the ATV 4K doesn't offer 24Hz 10-bit YCbCr 4:2:0 output because it isn't apparently officially supported by HDMI 2.0 AIUI?. https://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_2_0/hdmi_2_0_faq.aspx#146 4:2:2 / 4:4:4 / RGB are the only supported formats for 2160/30p and below frame rates. No 4:2:0 ...

FYI, passthrough (DD and DTS) works again in tvOS 11.2 b3.
