Re: Dolby Vision

It's actually and Apple issue with AVSampleBufferDisplayLayer (used by AVFoundation codec). Apple's player does not handle the ICtCp color right. At least under 12.4. Infuse uses the Apple Metal API instead of OpenGLES. The Metal API can render 10-bit. OpenGLES cannot. So we are back to getting Met...

Re: Dolby Vision

Same as the others. It triggers DV but has wrong colors. But, there are several other DV samples I have that do play properly. I guess a different profile? From what I have gathered, profile 4 & "DVDFab profile 5" clips play correctly on MrMC. Bitstreams with ICtCp color are not playing properly. F...

Re: Dolby Vision

1st confirmation by others that DV works in MrMC. Note the testflight version. https://forum.mrmc.tv/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=1468&start=30#p11458 It works, others have tested. I wrote the code and understand it pretty well. The LG demos tested in that post were profile 4 dual layer which has now been ...

Re: Dolby Vision

@timstephens24 UV sampling is screwed up. It's 10 bits yet Color range is Full, something I'd except for 8 bit. Smells like a bad encode/transcode ? Even video toolbox has messed up colors, but the generated thumbnail looks right. Which suggests it's really 8 bit and not HDR. Is this a one off or d...

Re: Dolby Vision

how can you just remove the dv el track from the folder? it's muxed into the movie's main m2ts file that dvdfab uses. I'm pretty sure it's taking the second track of the m2ts (the 1080p el) and writing it onto the hdr10 baselayer with rpu parameters ITS not posible since the dual layer is on the sa...

Re: Dolby Vision

I thought Profile 5 can do itu-r bt.2020 hdr10? Profile 5 has only base layer and it is supposed to be ITP/Dolby Vision. No HDR10 cross-compatibility for profile 5. The now deprecated profile 4 did have cross-compatibility. I haven't done any testing on this, but to me this looks like DVDFab is tak...

Re: Dolby Vision

Profile 7 must use BT.2020 color primaries/matrix and profile 5 must use ITP color primaries/matrix and full range. I'm not sure how you can achieve this by a copy process.

Re: Incorrect HDR Tone Metadata

For example, Vudu does not seem to do dynamic Max CLL/Max FALL like Amazon and Netflix do but launching the UDX version of Coco from Vudu switches to HDR and sends Max CLL/Max FALL of 250/100 just like the other default AppleTV UI settings. I believe the defaults you are referring to are 250/100 wh...
