Re: Dolby Vision

So, it's a no-go for this tool. I expected a single video stream with the DV metadata embedded into this. The MP4 conversion basically just changes the container. It's still dual layer. There are certain TVs (and maybe blu-ray players) that will play back the dual layer DV files in MP4 format but n...

Re: Testing MrMC 3.7.0

What happened to the blurred background in the Plex for Kodi add-on on TvOS? Not sure if this is truly a testflight issue or not. The background is no longer blurred and instead shows very pixelated versions of your background images. If the backgrounds are mostly white the text becomes impossible t...

Looking to see if anyone has tried "Star Wars 4 A New Hope 4K77.mkv" under MrMC ?
I have. It stutters on every single player for the Apple TV 4K I have tried (official Plex app, Infuse, and the latest MrMC testflight). It plays back fine on my Nvidia Shield (using official Plex app).

Dual layer DV rips play in SDR

I've noticed that my DV uhd rips play in SDR in MrMC. I realize dual layer DV playback is not supported, but ideally these titles would fallback to HDR10. When you rip DV uhd titles, there is an additional 1080p HEVC stream that presumably contains some of the DV metadata. I've been including both t...

Re: Testing MrMC 3.5.1

So is HDR detection supposed to be fixed in the latest testflight? I'm still having issues where it doesn't detect HDR most of the time. Edit: Actually I realized something interesting. The files that are failing HDR detection are my MKVs that are ripped from Dolby Vision UHD titles. I realized DV i...

Re: Questions about MrMC on appletv 4K.

Not the only thing! Don't forget Shield has Youtube in 4k and HDR..... Why Apple doesn't implement it I don't know... but the VP9 codec is free so no need to pay google anything. The Shield does youtube in 4k but does not support youtube HDR. For the latter it would need VP9 profile 2, which the sh...

Re: Testing MrMC 3.3.1

I've done some poking into Dolby Vision single vs dual layer. The results from MKVmerge are not complete. It does have two video streams (an HDR and SRD) but is missing the enhancement and metadata layers. So while it might play as HDR, the Dolby Vision bits has been left behind. https://source.and...

Re: Testing MrMC 3.3.1

On 20171203-e69e483 build for TvOS, I can confirm that LG Dolby Vision test videos are playing back in Dolby Vision (MKV format). I cannot seem to get Dolby Vision titles ripped with MKVmerge to play back in DV however (although there are rumors MKVmerge will not preserve the DV metadata). I will h...
