Re: cannot delete files from FTP share

Thanks. It's definitely not A deal breaker- just more of an annoyance.

cannot delete files from FTP share

This problem has also plagued Kodi, but I am using FTP for a couple shares and while I have the delete option turned on MRMC, it doesn't actually delete the file from the server. It will remove the item from the MRMC interface, but on the next library scan it will put it back in because the file sti...

Audio out of sync- FireTV stick 4K

I just bought a FTV Stick 4K and when I play a video, the audio and video will start in sync but after about 30-45 seconds the audio will not be ahead of the video pretty noticeably. I checked the forums for previous posts and made some adjustments to the HW acceleration and the display scaling, but...

Re: Buffering 4K HEVC video on ATV4K

I totally forgot that you mentioned that in an earlier post. I redid my setup that way and it started working. Seems like 4k now plays fine on my phone and iPad as well so I think things are good. I'll keep playing around with it and report back if anything changes

Re: Buffering 4K HEVC video on ATV4K

Interesting development yesterday. On all my iOS and tvOS devices I updated to the newly released 3.7 running on iOS and tvOS 12. I then enabled libsmb2 on those devices to see if it made a difference. My NAS is set to allow SMBv3 but when I went to play a file it wouldn't start. It would just stay ...

Re: Buffering 4K HEVC video on ATV4K

For sure. I think my LAN setup is about as optimized as it can get, though I am using the Orbi router built-in switch (whose performance I cannot totally vouch for), but most of my network is wireless. But I think your point on the server portion is probably spot-on. I am using a WD My Cloud 4TB sin...

Re: Buffering 4K HEVC video on ATV4K

This is a known problem with the Kodi implementation of SMB (and also NFS): With large files, you can run into massive buffering problems even if your connection should be more than fast enough. I had the same problem before when I had a ~120 mbit/s wifi connection (checked with iperf) trying to pl...

Re: Buffering 4K HEVC video on ATV4K

Thanks- this is really helpful information. It saves me some time having to create NFS shares if it isn't going to make any material difference. Quite honestly, I may just give the FTP route a shot. The way I currently I have it setup is that I have all my shares on a desktop instance of Kodi and th...

Re: Buffering 4K HEVC video on ATV4K

I did some more digging and it appears that this is a SMB issue. I played the file over UPNP and it played perfectly. I believe SMBv3 may solve this problem but my understanding is that it is not available for ATV 4k just yet. My NAS has a hack to support NFS which I may try in the interim. Any othe...

Re: Buffering 4K HEVC video on ATV4K

Unfortunately, that didn't seem to work. I grabbed another set of logs with libdsm enabled, https://pastebin.com/AcUVUp35
