Cannot show any ass subtitles

Tried a bunch of ass subtitles and none of them are showing when loaded. In the subtitle menu while the video is playing I can see ass subtitle is loaded, but it is just not showing on screen. I tried KODI and VLC. Both of them show subtitles without issue.

Dig into the log a little bit, this seems to be the issue?

On the other hand, Kodi seems to able to load arial font without problem:

I tried to poke around with Total Commander. But I can't open the system folder with un-rooted device.

I managed to find some old app versions for MrMC lite on Android. It is clear that this issue was introduced in v3.9.7:

Do you mean the fix is just in codebase and will be in next release, or it should be fixed in current v3.9.8 (doesn't seem to be the case for me...)?

This is a subtitle file that I used for testing (The video file is too large to upload. But you can pair it with any video you have).

No, I do not unfortunately. We are working on few other things but shouldn’t be longer than few weeks
