Max bitrate?

Post by snodrog742 »

Is there a way to cap the bitrate or stream bandwidth and reduce buffering? My internet must be having a crap day and buffering everything.

Submitted debuglog SSMVJ.log in case it helps

They do. I just don't know how to get it to kick in as it always seems to play the highest bitrate option currently. Is this a feature request?

We have added transcoding option to plex in the early stages, but users mainly use MrMC for its ability to play anything direct.

I’ll look into it, but it’s a can of worms I am not sure we want to open :)

Is it possible then to actually pause the video automatically then when buffer is < 5% filled and resume when built back up? Right now, video stutters when buffer is empty and then plays at "hyperspeed" to catch up. Kinda annoying.

Nope. What you are asking to solve looks exactly like a bad network issue or poor network bandwidth.

Are your video files remote or on your local network?

That happens occasionally and isn't a "bad" thing. There should be fallbacks in place as a video playing at hyperspeed because of a blip is totally ridiculous.
