Hi Davilla,

Happy that progress is being made at least! - I know the issue occurs with both SMB and NFS mounts

Do you have a private address I can send a link to an additional file to for checking? It's a commercially purchased mp4 video, which (a) takes a long time to initially buffer and (b) after about 20 seconds of playing starts having strange sound / stuttering issues

I know from experience that if I re-encode with Handbrake, it will play just fine

I'm hoping the issue is similar to that with the GoPro video, but thought it'd be good to check

Regs,

Mark

Good news/Bad news. I think I tracked it down. That's the good news, bad news is we can't fix it for upcoming 3.0.3 release. It will have to wait for 3.0.4 testflight/release. The reason is we need to bump FFMpeg version from 3.1 to 3.2 and that is too risky to do this late in 3.0.3 testing. FFMpeg touches everything and the last thing we want is to push our 3.0.3 with inadequate testing coverage.

FFMpeg is used not just for decoding (sw) but also demuxing, audio, subs and a few other things. Think of it as a vine, it reaches all over MrMC :)

If we need to update FFMpeg, would it not make sense to go to the latest (3.3) rather than 3.2?

Or are you consciously staying away from the 'bleeding edge'?

Edit: just saw, 3.2.4 is latest 'stable' version....

FFMpeg 3.3 is under heavy construction. I'd rather wait on it until the fall out settles. MrMC does stand for stability.

Targeted for 3.0.4. and the testflight for 3.0.4 will startup once all platforms are out.
