Those running the 2.8.0 testflight might take a peek in settings -> video -> acceleration :)

fixed in released 2.8.0, enable Settings -> Video -> Acceleration -> VideoToolBox for hw decode of h264.

Congrats on the release of 2.8.0

it has been quite a difference in the cpu usage when rendering the larger stream bitrates

i was sitting around 200% cpu and dropping frames , here is a screenshot with video acceleration on

i do notice there is not as much smoothness using the software rendering only, but it also wasnt watchable, so take it as it is unless there is some more tuning to be done.

Cheers, this has almost become my only media appletv except having to flip back for plex channels.
