MrMC Opacity Skin Home Page

Post by logan_x50 »

Hello chaps,

I love the media views you built in opacity. I think you nailed it, but I would like an alternative home page/navigation menu

My suggestion would be a menu across the top horizontal. This would in my worthless opinion:-
  • be more TVOs "native" i.e BBC iPlayer, ITV Home Hub, Amazon Video
  • free up tons of home page and media view real estate
  • improve navigation with Siri remote
not sure if you can access BBC iPlayer where you are so for an example:-

Siri remote navigation has been "reworked" in 3.4.1 currently in testing. It's very good, very native feeling.

I agree about the Home Page needing to be more tvOS-like. You can use some of the free space by enabling Recently Added and In Progress items.

Some of my thoughts on how to make the Home Page more like tvOS can be found here, more specifically to make the menu more like tvOS:

thought i'd share how Synology DS video does it. I really like it. I guess there's a big difference between building a native tvOS app and skinning but anyway, for what its worth

Did you notice the stunning similarity between the UI in DS Video and infuse?
Who inspired who? ;)

I would be much happier with larger icons and a slimmer progress bar. A lot of space is wasted by the vertical Menu with it’s too big font/space reseserved of the home items.
The skin really needs some tuning.

Plex tvOS app or Plex media player 2 are also very good examples.

+1 on an improved home screen and I like the examples shared in this thread.

Others incl. myself have been asking for new skins. I only actually realize that Opacity is actually an incredibly nice skin once you leave the home screen. The media views are excellent! With some of the improvements suggested in this thread, Opacity may actually turn into the perfect skin!
