Shield TV hidden video resolutions?

The talk in other threads about 25p material got me thinking. I know my TV can play PAL resolutions (I just did it via my Oppo BDP with which I can choose PAL output) but the Shield TV only offers me NTSC resolutions.

So, Shield switches to 1080p60 for 25p material.

Is there a way to force resolutions in the Shield TV that it thinks aren't available? I tried searching the net but couldn't find what I want.

Maybe my TV doesn't report that it can do PAL because it's a USA version. But, it can do it. Thus, I wish to force it.

The HDTV might be able to do it but android's API only reports it can do those four. I am surprised that 50Hz does not show up. It does on my samsung.

I can tell my ATV4 to go into 1080p50 mode and it works just fine. How do I get MrMC to realize output is 50fps now? It seems to think it's 60 still.

That's how the ATV4 works under tvOS, Apps don't know display details. There is no API for it.

I find that video playback on the appletv4 is pretty good as is.
