nvidia shield atmos audio - bug with channel mapping?

Post by orenmi » 15 Dec 2018, 07:33

hi,
sometimes, in 4K dolby atmos movies, the sound suddenly start coming ALL from one random speaker.
restarting the movie fix it. sometimes the bug comes back after a few minutes, and sometimes its remains ok till the end.
Does anyone experience this too? is there a solution?

still happening, almost every 4k atmos movie I watch, about 20 minutes into the movie, suddenly some channels are missing, (like no center anymore) or all channels are coming out of the right surround speaker etc.
stopping and resuming the movie fix it.

I assume this is passthrough, right? IEC?
If so, as MrMC, by definition, doesn't touch the actual "sound", I'd suggest to check whether there would be an issue in the source file or the AVR.

using passthrough, yes.
I know the player should not touch the sound on this case, but I cant think of anything that can act like this.
its a new Denon 3400 and new cables.
If it happens and restarting the movie always fix it, it seems to me like its a software thing.
Or, there is an issue with Nvidia shield. But I wonder what in the hardware can cause that.

Hi Koying. Im having the same issue. All these files have been working perfectly with SPMC. It’s so sad because I want to use MRMC but I have to keep going back to your amazing SPMC.

I have a Pioneer Elite receiver and everything is up to date as far as firmware and software. SPMC is set to Android RAW passthrough and works every time. SPMC is only having these issues.

Is MrMC also set to use RAW ?

if I'm unchecking the IEC checkbox (i guess this puts it at RAW?) I get no sound at all.
