gnollo wrote: 16 Jan 2019, 11:03 By the way Montoya, my EMBY server runs in a docker in unraid (a linux variant I believe) and it is only version 3.5.3.0.
I just checked and it says that version 4.0.0.2 is now available for download, but I am in no rush to install it.
All my clients are android, but I would be happy to buy an Apple TV if I can get external connections working that way.
Did you follow Amets lead :
amet wrote: 14 Jan 2019, 16:29 how did you setup https? did you get the custom SSL?

manual login works just fine with http, but I cant enable https for manual as it needs SSL cert
For https access you have to check Emby's wiki, if you have setup everything correctly in Emby 3.5.3.0 to make that work in MrMC.
I setup HTTPS using the following guide
https://cyanlabs.net/tutorials/the-comp ... ypt-guide/
Basically I have dockers for DuckDNS for the external ip, let's encrypt for the free SSL certificate and nginx for the reverse proxy.
In the link for the Letsencrypt docker it says I need to forward external port 443 to the internal port 444, which is what I did.

I am able to connect externally via both the emby client and more importantly both versions of Kodi with EmbyCon plugin.
So I know it is setup properly and it works. HTTPS is what I need, I won't open up HTTP externally.

Is there an ETA on a solution? I have some friends connecting to my server and I would like them to buy your product but not if I can't get it to connect to my server.
The reason I like your solution is that:
- is available from the App Store on the Apple TV, wich means it's easy to install
- plays AVIs and DTS files without requiring transcoding
- I am impressed with how quick it is also on the Apple TV compared to the FireTV HD.
- no stuttering so far in playback, and sound in sync with video

I'm puzzled. You can only use MrMC to access libraries on the LAN and nobody cares? Isn't anyone using it to access external libraries?

That’s not what this is about. I can access just fine with a normal Emby configuration. The issue is with the way gnollo has his set up.

Excellent news, are you using https:// for your external connections? How did you set the secure certificate up?

Gnollo already posted his guide for his https setup, but you could also try this one:

I'm not using that, so you will have to try that yourself, so if that works, just let us know.

FYI, MrMC 3.8.0 has no problems with remote http access with manual sign-in or pin request sign-in.

Ok but is anyone connecting securely, using https via MrMC, to any type of server, doesn't have to be Emby, can be Plex, etc.
I want to use a tried and tested method to give https access to my internal library to friends and family using MrMC. Happy to run Emby internally and another server for externals if I have to.

I still mostly use Plex, all connections there are secure and can be set that way in the server.
