Sony Android Tv 24p

Installed MrMc on an A1 today. Running fine so for using plex addon, navigation is fairly quick.
As has been reported earlier passthrough is not working on android 7.
Unfortunately 24p playback is not available.

Btw.: kodi 17.6 with plex addon judders too.

What motion settings are you using?
I find MotionFlow: True Cinema with Film Mode/Cinemotion:High gives a pretty good result.
Pretty sure these settings will do a reverse 3:2 pulldown from the 60hz playback to give correct 24hz cadence.

In motion I prefer to have everything off. Cannot bear the introduced artifacts. When playing via apple tv 4k with same settings on input I get wonderful film like motion (of course there is stuttering in slow pans — just the same you get in theaters).
Obviously Sony is playing the same game of ignorance regarding 24p as amazon does for years.

AFAIK native android apps are locked to 60hz.
Apps currently can't force the TV to change resolution/refresh rate.

HDMI Sources don't have this restriction.

I think you are right.
Interestingly enough rtings states in a test that, amongst with others, Sony A1 does 24p with native apps.

A debuglog would tell, but none of the previous model supported refresh rate switching

The rtings review says it plays back 24hz material judder free in the native apps. They mention you need to change the motion flow settings to achieve this though.
If it’s not in the review itself it may be in the recommended settings part.

MrMC on my Sony Android TV is also stuck to 60p. Therefore 50p material only plays with lots of stutter. Other Android apps like Emby play 50p without stutter. Does anybod know a fix for this?

Try enabling "Sync to display"
