Some questions before buying

Post by sahara »

Hello and sorry if this was asked already.
I am looking to buy an apple tv 4k for HDR playback.
However there are some functions on Kodi without I won't be able to live, hence the questions.
Does HUE ambilight work using one lightsrip? Working with SD all the way to 4k HDR? I saw some posts about this but am still not sure.
Can I control my Wemo toggle? On/off when playing/pausing/etc.
Is there some functionality for auto deleteing seen tv shows after x number of days? (like Janitor) and deleting movies after watching them with prompt? (like After Watch).
I assume OpenSubtitles support should be normal.
Some integration such as LazyTV?
Control through Alexa?

Hmm I think that is all I would need.

Thank you!

We have a Lite version which you can use to evaluate MrMC

hue works, we use Scenes and hue handles how/what's displayed

Wemo is a no, Alexa is a no on Apple TV for obvious reasons... Lazy TV? not sure what it is... but since its an add-on, its a "no".

Opensubtitles are fully integrated

Thank you...so there is no way to control playback through Alexa...:(
LazyTV is an add-on, yes. However it is not necessarily what I need. What it does is, select part of TVShows to randomize them. Also, it can be cloned to select shows for different uses.
So, if I tell Alexa to execute it, it will play ex: Walking dead and Supernatural
If I tell to execute the clone it will play other series in random.

Thank you

Re Alexa controls for MrMc or any Apple TV stuff... I wish there was a way to get more functionality there. I have a Harmony hub so I think that gives me some good basic functions, like getting to the Apple TV input and pausing. I’d love be able to do more via my Harmony, like to tell Alexa to open an ATV app or play certain content on MrMc or even Netflix.

@sahara

For Smart Home automation there is a platform called Homebridge, linking all Smart Home platforms together.
It runs on a Raspberry Pi, so you need to have some geek background to set it up. If you are a noob, stay away from Homebridge.

Home Assistant <3
