found the problem! I had settings for fire tv set to 1080p60 instead of auto. now it switches. :)

I'm definitely curious about this. My TV reports 23.976 when switching with other devices. first time I've seen it say 24. I wonder why... :ugeek:

if you search logcat, there is an edid dump from the display. start searching for '1080'
