I have a Plex media server running on the LAN and I do not want remote access to be enabled to it. But unless remote access is enabled, MrMC cannot use it. It cannot discover it even though I enabled GDM. I enabled remote access and it worked. I figured that once discovered I could turn remote access off, but then playback no longer works.
I don't see a good reason to require remote access when both MrMC and the server are on the same LAN. The official Plex client does not require that, it works just fine without remote access.
It should also have an option to allow insecure connections on the local LAN and maybe an option to specify the IP address of the local server directly, my server for example uses a static IP on the LAN.
