I can confirm the above also. Playback syncing drifts after only a few moments (less than a minute), gets progressively worse, and becomes unwatchable after a couple minutes. I'm using a FireTV 2.

Thanks to Agentq's suggestion/work-around in another thread of turning off "Adjust display refresh rate", the buffering - and most of the sync issues, have been mitigated.

I recommend anyone wanting to keep auto framerate to stick with the latest stable Kodi (with non-Surface MediaCodec) for now.

I just hope we can get some feedback from the devs, or at least just acknowledging the bugs ;) thanks

I also have the issues with the sounds being out of sync with the FTV3 pendant and frame rate syncing. Also videos starting paused. These issues were in the last version of MRMC also.

@Koying and @Davilla,

Could you say something regarding issues that we have in this thread, please. Just a quick note saying "we are aware, and we are working on it" will suffice.

@Koying, thank you for your excellent SPMC, I am using version 16.7.4 on my Fire TV 3 and it works almost perfectly (except for the manageable issue with passthrough).

All users, here is how to make SPMC work (near) perfectly:
-- In Amazon settings set Display resolution to Auto, output mode to YCbCr 10-bit and Match original frame rate to "ON".
-- Set SPMC UI to 720p60 to let the TV do the upscaling.
-- Under Video->Acceleration set all codecs to "Always", set HQ scalers to "Never" (with "Low" or "High" I get jerky playback in 24p content in Mediacodec Surface), and enable Mediacodec (Surface).
-- Under Video->Acceleration set "Adjust frame rate" to "Always" with 1.5sec delay. Then all videos work smoothly including HDR and 24p.

Audio passthrough workaround:
-- Set to IEC passthrough and enable passthrough of everything excluding the DTSHD and TRUEHD, then DISABLE passthrough, otherwise you have no sound.
-- When a video starts playing, pause it, go to the audio OSD menu and enable passthrough from there and it works! You have to toggle disable/enable passthrough in that menu every time you start a new video video otherwise you get no sound.

Passthrough is only useful if you have surround sound system. For soundbar or TV speakers you can simply keep passthrough off.

I know you wanted koying or davilla to answer, but I can tell you that we are aware of the issues and are working on fixing them... if more info is needed we will ask for it

If you have a sample of the video that easily reproduces the issue, feel free to email us the link to support @ mrmc . tv

Thank you for your answer.

I think there is no need for sample, every common video codec and format suffers from this bugs when auto framerate enabled.

If you need any specific scenario logs, I would be happy to provide them.
